Important: if you choose not to insure your shipment, TarkaJewels.com will not be liable to refund the cost of your purchase should the postal services fail to deliver it. Jewellery must be insured in order to make a claim, as claims cannot be made under ordinary post.

Free gifts and special offers terms and conditions

Buy goods to the value of £95 or more and receive a free pendant worth £29. This applies even to single purchase transactions. Free gifts still qualify for free 1st class delivery and luxury jewellery box.
Free gift offers valid while stocks last. We reserve the right to vary the free gift at any time, and to offer an alternative piece of a similar design and value should no further stocks be available of the one on display on the homepage. However, we will endeavour as a first resort to offer the same free gift as is shown at the time that the order was made.

If you return an item under our 14 day cooling off period and you had qualified for and received a free gift, you must return both the item you paid for and the free gift, including any jewellery boxes received, with the retail tags intact. Similarly, if you purchase more than one item which brings your total up to the qualifying level for a free gift, should you return one of the purchases for whatever reason and so bringing your total below the qualifying amount for a free gift, you must return the free gift and its box. Your legal rights remain unaffected.

Where you purchase more than one item which qualifies you for a multiple purchase discount, it is the total amount due after the discount is applied that will determine whether or not you have also qualified for a free gift. So for example, where the qualifying amount for a free gift is £95 or more, if the combined total for your purchases also reaches £95, you will not receive the free gift, as the amount due is reduced below £95 by the application of the multiple purchase discount.

Unwanted free gifts are not eligible for exchange or refund. Your legal rights remain unaffected.

Cancelling an order

Cancelling an order before despatch
If you change your mind after placing an order, you can cancel it at any time before we despatch it (we will email you as soon as possible when it has been sent out to you). Please either email or telephone us to cancel as soon as possible. You will need to give us your name and address details, as well as your order number to cancel your order.

Cancelling an order after despatch - cooling off period
When you order from us online, you are entitled to a cooling off period when you can return your goods for whatever reason in the same condition that the goods were received in without any penalty. Our cooling off period is 14 days, which includes any statutory cooling off period. This period starts the day the contract is agreed (i.e. you receive an email from us saying we have despatched your order) and ends 14 days after the day following delivery of the goods.

Faulty Items
The procedures, set out here, to cancel an order or return an item do not affect your right to reject faulty goods. Further information can be found at www.consumerdirect.gov.uk. If you do receive a faulty item, please follow the procedure outlined below.

Returns Policy - how to return an item

Just email our careline@tarkajewels.com and we will send you a letter with pre-paid labels to attach to your parcel, so postage will be free. The card you used to pay will be refunded promptly when the shipment is received at our offices.
Place the items into their original presentation boxes and make sure the parcel is sealed securely. You should also place a copy of the despatch note you received with your order into the parcel. We regret that we are unable to refund items that have had the retail tag removed.
If the items were a gift to you, you will be reimbursed with Gift Cards.

Duty when returning goods

If you wish to return goods, you have a duty to keep them in your possession and to take reasonable care of them until you return them. Please email us if you would like to return your order, and we will send you pre-paid labels so that you can return them for free. Goods must be returned in their original condition, including immediate packaging and any jewellery boxes, within the cooling off period. We regret that refunds cannot be made for goods whose tags have been removed either wholly or in part, except if the goods are faulty. This also applies to goods received as gifts, so we would advise customers buying goods as gifts not to remove the tags either.

Returning a gift and using Gift Cards to exchange an item received as a gift
Cash refunds for gifts can only be made to the payment card used to purchase the goods. So if you buy a gift online, the recipient will not be able to get a cash refund if they want to return the goods. If a recipient does want to return gifts in exchange for another of their own choosing, we will exchange them for Gift Cards of the same value of the gift within the 14 day cooling off period. Gift cards are alphanumerical voucher codes which can be entered at the checkout stage when "paying" for an item. So for example, if you are emailed Gift Card voucher 93QP02JT, then you would shop with TarkaJewels.com as normal, click on Buy for something you wish to purchase, and simply enter code 93QP02JT in the relevant box visible at the checkout stage. You will then be sent your new piece of jewellery in the usual way. This includes free 1st class delivery and luxury jewellery box.

Care of your jewellery

Silver tarnishes when it reacts with sulphides in the atmosphere, so the best way to keep it looking bright and shiny is to keep it in an airtight container or its box. However, the original lustre can be easily and quickly restored with a dry silver cloth. For intricate silverwork, soaking in warm soapy water and gently brushing with a soft toothbrush will remove dirt. To restore shine, use a silver dip, even for jewellery with gemstones, but only for up to 10 seconds or so. Note that silver dip is carcinogenic, so wearing rubber gloves is advised, and rinse in clean water afterwards. The process of using a silver dip does not in fact remove a layer of silver, but merely reacts with the oxidised silver to return it back to its original state. However, silver dip is not to be used on any kind of pearl, whether freshwater, cultured, coloured or biwa pearl, as it will permanently take the shine off and will erode it in time. Only a silver cloth should be used. For cleaning beads, never wash in water as this will saturate the threading and cause it to soften and snap. Instead, use Windolene glass wipes which will take off all oil and dirt, leaving your beads squeaky clean! Never go swimming in chlorinated water or seawater wearing your silver, as this will render it a dark grey, but the shine can be restored with some elbow grease.

Note that all silver jewellery is relatively delicate, and so rough handling may result in parts of it being broken. Care should be taken in the case of bracelets when carrying heavy objects, as weight placed on such items often results in breakages. This is especially the case when carrying small children on the bracelet arm. In such events, the customer is responsible for arranging the repair and settling the cost of all expenditure associated with repair, including P&P where applicable.
